Make It Happen Monday – Where’s Your Genius?

6

Because I’m one lucky SOB I spent the weekend surrounded by some of the best in the fitness business and some bright new up and comers. As usual, some great information was shared and this time around I pulled a lot of aspects of the proper mindset from it. One presentation in particular really hit me. To be honest, it F’ed me up a little. I’d like to share some of that with you and hopefully you can pull something from it, too.

One of the guys I really look up to, James “Smitty” Smith is well-known in the industry for being one of the best out there. His knowledge of energy dynamics and biomechanics is fantastic. I’ve been to training seminars with him before and always picked some great info up. This time, though, rather than hooking up some bands and chains to barbells to hit a very particular vector and other strength geek shit he was talking about getting the mind right.

He shared a lot of videos in his presentation, but this one really hit me. I can’t even really put my finger on why it struck me so hard, per se. I can’t say that anything in it was a “revelation”. However, anytime something sends chills down your spine, you can’t look away from the projector screen, and the entire room disappears… Well, that’s something that you pay attention to. It’s less than 6:00, so watch it.

What I most took from the video wasn’t about the Haters. I’ve pretty much made peace with my haters (as my boy Pete would say: “I love you and your pink parts”) and my own inner hater (we all have it). What I most took from it was regarding our inner Genius. Genius. We all have it in us. There is something in you, the guy next to you, and the girl across the street. Something that maybe won’t change the world for everybody, but can change the world for somebody. Most people never let it out. Most people will stay haters. They hate because they’re afraid of showing their true selves.

It’s Make It Happen Monday. Don’t be that guy.

Just don’t.

Great post. I’m really moved. Video was really inspirational.

Dealing with cynics and rejection can be hard. Always visualize success
and acknowledge your untapped potential.

Belief in yourself and find others to believe in you. I believe in you.
Keep up the great work. 🙂

This was great, that just hitting my brain and giving me inspiration. The best thing to do is to create something potentially like this.

That is so true about the haters being unrealized potential. I can really relate to that. What a pity that there is no way of harnessing all that jealousy and hate into something really beautiful and which could be recycled for ever around the world. Dream on ……

People focus too much on what they ‘don’t’ want rather than what they ‘do’ want and the result is that they get more of the same crap day after day after day! They end up bitchin’ about the people who have a smile on their face because they focus on their desires. They The smilers take action and get on with their life. Smile at the haters no matter what and maybe one day they’ll ask you how you do it!

There are so many haters, because we are brought up to compare ourselves with others and what they have. But its all BS.

Haters are to be looked upon with pity. I don’t even waste my time trying to change them as you can only change yourself.

We’ve only got one life to live, there’s no seconds.

Great post
